DAP WON SIBU BY-ELECTION
DAP candidate Wong Ho Leng has won the Sibu Parliamentary by-election beating BN candidate Robert Lau Hui Yew and Independent candidate Narawi Haron with a majority of 398 votes.
Ho Leng, DAP Sarawak chairman garnered 18,845 votes while Robert Lau 18,447 votes. Narawi only managed 232 votes and lost his deposit.
The result was a surprise one and really a shameful one for BN. The efforts by all their big guns from the peninsula together with hundred millions of funds and allocations threw during the campaign did not help BN to retain the seat. The by-election was held following the demised of the incumbent Robert Lau Choi Chew.
