Minos says SUPP should stop giving excuses and buck-passing

KUCHING: Giving excuses and buck-passing tactics is no longer acceptable in the present society including among the Bidayuh community.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy publicity chief Dato Peter Minos said the Bidayuh cannot be fooled anymore with such tactics.
Minos who is also chairman of PBB Opar was responding to Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Tan Sri Dr George Chan’s statement that only the government can solve land issues affecting the people in Opar and Bengoh and not the party and politicians.
On Wednesday Minos urged SUPP to quickly solve the many problems facing by the Bidayuh in the two constituencies particularly with regard to acquisition of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land in both Opar and Bengoh
Minos in response to Dr Chan’s statement said he could not see any logic in Dr Chan's reply to his statement.
He said SUPP is in the government and Dr George Chan is in the deputy chief minister, so why can’t they solve the land issues affected the Bidayuh in Bengoh and Opar state constituency.
“If you are in the government and cannot solve the people problem associated with the government than what role do you really play?” he asked Dr Chan.
Minos also asked how SUPP can solve the many Bidayuh villages in Bengoh and Opar that are not getting treated water, no electricity and are facing poverty.
“Is SUPP not taking action?. It should not push problem to the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister and the government all the time. It won’t work. People are not fools. Even villagers knew,” he added.
Opar and Bengoh are the two SUPP seats which majority of the voters are Bidayuh, which political observers said might fall to the hand of the opposition in the forthcoming state election.
